For Fatma, one of our local ActionAid staff members working right now on the ground in Gaza, every day is a struggle to deliver emergency aid. She lives in a camp with her family, having been displaced multiple times. Can you imagine fleeing your only place of shelter over and over, while facing constant trauma and trying to comfort your children? For women like Fatma, this is their daily reality.
Tragically, many of her fellow humanitarian workers have been killed in attacks—at least 369 since October 2023. Yet, in the face of this unimaginable loss, Fatma witnesses more women stepping into leadership roles, as many men have been killed or severely injured.
“Girls and women are bearing the brunt of this war,” she says, with many becoming heads of households. But there is hope. Because of you.

This includes access to safe places and support for survivors of gender-based violence.
