Women by Women photography exhibition comes to Cork
Women by Women is a unique photography exhibition that celebrates female trailblazers and the incredible talent of women photographers around the world. It will launch in Cork on 8th June 2023 in Cork City Library at 1pm.
The event will include lunch and a discussion about the exhibition. Registration is essential.
The photography exhibition, developed by ActionAid, showcases women on the frontlines of climate change and who have overcome obstacles to become leaders in their community.
It highlights the work and activism of women all over the world including a local women’s oyster farm in Senegal, a volunteer firefighter in Bangladesh, and a young Palestinian woman who has started selling desserts in the West Bank. In addition, all the images were taken by female photographers. Among others, the exhibition tells the story of Thu and Huong, Farmers and close friends who have adapted their livelihoods in the face of climate change.
ActionAid works with women and children, as they take the lead in claiming their human rights to build a more just world. The approach is to empower local women to take control over their own lives. Irish Aid, Department of Foreign Affairs, funds an ActionAid Women’s Rights programme in Kenya, Nepal and Ethiopia. We use this funding to work with vulnerable communities in an effort to prevent gender-based violence and help women gain an independent income.
Register for the exhibition here.
