Gerry and Trish Kerr, ActionAid Ireland supporters from Celbridge, are organising a group hike to fundraise for girl’s education in Nepal. The hike is taking on 8th April in Glendalough.

Gerry and Trish have been supporters of ActionAid for more than 30 years. Finally, in April 2016 they traveled to Nepal to visit the child they have been sponsoring in person. While in Nepal, the hospitality and resilience of the people in Dharmanghar moved Gerry and Trish. And so, on their return they committed to giving more back to the people of Nepal.

Details of the hike to fundraise for Nepal:

  • Date: Saturday, 8th April 2017
  • Time: 10am start
  • Meet: Upper Lake Car park
  • Location: Glendalough
  • Distance: 13kms (four hours approx), including the White Route

What will the funds raised mean?

Funds raised from the proceeds of the hike will go towards building a crèche and two school blocks for girls in Dharmanghar, Nepal. These projects are vital. The funds will allow girls to finish their education in their home village. And they will allow children have access to early childhood education – dramatically improving their chances later in life. In addition, the creches means mothers have the time to pursue their economic activities.

If you would like join Gerry and Trish Kerr on this hike, please contact Greg Merrin at 01 8787911 and greg.merrin@actionaid.org, or, if you would like to support their fundraising, please visit their fundraising page here.
