ActionAid Fund Our Future - Climate Crisis

ActionAid Ireland will be hosting an online lunchtime event Fund Our Future – impact of and solutions to the climate crisis at 1.15pm on Tuesday 10th October.

At the event, you will hear about Fund Our Future, ActionAid’s global climate campaign. In early September we launched our new report revealing the shocking fact that almost €6 billion is channeled through Ireland by financial institutions to companies like Shell, Chervon and Exxon to fund damaging fossil fuels and agribusiness in the Global South. In this event we will tell you more about this research, why it matters and what we think the Irish government can do!

Speakers

  • Susan Otieno, Country Director of ActionAid Kenya. Susan will discuss how communities in Kenya, in particular women and girls, are impacted by climate change. She will also discuss how communities are adapting and mitigating against climate change.
  • Karol Balfe, CEO of ActionAid Ireland. Karol will discuss our global climate campaign Fund Our Future, our new report and some of the solutions to the climate crisis.

The event will be held over Zoom. Follow the link to register here.

Fund Our Future

Fossil fuels and industrial agriculture are the two biggest drivers of the climate crisis. As the crisis escalates, these industries continue to expand and thrive. This compounds poverty and inequality and undermines attempts to alleviate poverty. Our new campaign is focused on diverting money from industries that harm the climate towards climate solutions. Read more.
