A note from ActionAid Ireland on COVID-19

Dear supporters and friends,

Greetings to you and yours from all of us in ActionAid Ireland.

I am reaching out to you in what are very uncertain times for all of us. Since the end of last week, the team at ActionAid Ireland are working remotely as is required in our effort to mitigate against the spread of COVID-19.  

Right now, as we adapt, we are working as hard as ever as a team to continue our programmes and to be able to respond to the changing needs of the communities we work with across the globe. We know the fuller impact of COVID-19 will soon be felt in African countries, who are without many of the health services and social protection governmental supports we are depending on so much right now. The impact on them will be devastating and ActionAid is mobilised across the world to help offset that devastation. I will tell you more about that as our work progresses. 

If you are under pressure and want to consider pausing your support for ActionAid at this time, we understand and want to help. If you are a child sponsor, we want to flag that the message from your child may be delayed because work in the communities is curtailed right now in consideration of everyone’s health and safety, especially the children. 

In sum, I understand you are receiving a lot of information at the moment about COVID-19, and it can be overwhelming. We plan to keep any updates as succinct and relevant as possible, about our work and what we are doing to help others in this time.   

We would not be able to continue without your ongoing support and for that, we are truly grateful.
