Yoga Day 2017

Lend your time to help rebuild Nepal

What is the Yoga Day all about?

This June yoga teachers across Ireland are going to hold a Yoga Day in aid of ActionAid’s programme in Nepal. Funds raised are going to go towards the building of an Early Childhood Development Centre in rural Nepal.

If you are a yoga teacher, taking part is simple:

  1. Get in touch with Lucy at comms.ireland@actionaid.org or call 01 878 7911
  2. Advertise your class
  3. Hold a class on Saturday 24th June (or close to that date) and donate the proceeds of the class to ActionAid

If you are a yoga student – check out our list of centres involved below, we hope there is one near you!

Why build an Early Childhood Development Centre?

Emotional, social and physical development of young children has a direct effect on the adult they will become. By focusing on the early education of young children living in poverty in Nepal, we hope to change these children’s lives for good.

Why Nepal?

ActionAid has been working in Nepal for over 30 years and our local team were some of the first responders after the devastating earthquake in 2015. The first Yoga Day took place in 2015 to fund ActionAid’s response to the humanitarian disaster. And in 2016 a second Yoga Day took place to raise money to build a Child Care Centre.  Thank you to all teachers and students who have supported the Yoga Day so far.
