What ActionAid does
15-year-old Hibaq lives in a camp for displaced people in Somaliland. Like many women and girls, Hibaq struggled to manage aspects of her periods due to the living conditions in the camp. There are no private toilets for women, and nowhere she can wash her clothes and underwear.
ActionAid works with women and girls, community leaders, men and boys, schools and governments to help end period poverty around the world — once and for all.
In many of the world’s poorest countries, from Somalia to Bangladesh, we train women and girls to make safe, reusable sanitary pads, which are affordable and sustainable.
In our girls’ clubs and safe spaces in schools, we help girls learn about menstruation and puberty, so girls are better informed about their bodies and can manage their periods without shame.
Will you help a girl like Hibaq today?
