The daily outage of electricity has affected the operation of water and sewage pumps. Frequent water shortages and raw sewage running into the sea pose a serious threat to health. Hospitals are struggling to cope with electricity shortages and fuel supplies are at critically low levels to keep up with demand.

Amnah ActionAid Gaza Appeal

Children in crisis

Children, including 12-year-old Amnah (pictured), spend every night in fear from the sounds of gunfire – too scared to tiptoe to the toilet in the darkness. Amnah struggles to study at night because of the electricity blackouts that plague Gaza.

The blackouts hamper every aspect of family life – from getting washed and dressed in the mornings, to cooking, eating dinner and spending time together at night.
